Woman Smiling with hand on face | Somatic Therapy in California for Women

Hi, I’m Clara—a Somatic Experiencing® therapist, certified psychedelic integration coach, therapeutic touch practitioner, registered yoga teacher, and Reiki healer. I specialize in holistic healing for women and girls.

Like many of my clients, I once suffered from crippling, chronic anxiety and depression. It wasn’t until I realized these “diagnoses” were actually symptoms of unresolved trauma that my world completely changed and true healing began.

Through my own journey and the work I witness in my practice every day, I’ve come to know that deep healing happens when we move beyond talking about our feelings to actually feeling them. Cliché, I know. But it’s true—the only way out of our pain is through it. When we go to the source of our wounding, sit with it, give it air to breathe, and meet it with what it needed but didn’t receive, healing can occur.

In my office, healing is not about prescribing quick solutions that mask symptoms—it’s about discovering the root of the issue. The approach I use with clients is rooted in this philosophy; it’s the same approach I’ve used to heal a lifetime of profound trauma and pain, and one that has empowered me to live from an embodied, authentic, open-hearted, and deeply connected place.

Are you curious about Somatic Experiencing® therapy, therapeutic touch, holistic trauma healing, or psychedelic integration therapy?

Get to know me and the way I work …

  • If you’re looking to go beyond surface-level healing and get to the root of your symptoms, we’re most likely a good match. My clients are committed to the process of bringing about deep, lasting change and are open to a holistic, mind-body-spirit approach. Many have a history of trauma (most often sexual trauma), are navigating major life transitions, integrating psychedelic experiences, or feeling disconnected from themselves. The clients who choose to work with me are ready to take a deeply embodied path to healing and growth–and they understand that this journey is a marathon, not a sprint.

  • True healing addresses every part of who we are—mind, body, and spirit. I know this from my own journey and from what I witness in my practice every day. My approach is combines talk therapy, psychoeducation, body/sensation-awareness (somatic therapy), therapeutic touch/bodywork, and Eastern healing practices to create a space where you can feel safe exploring the past as it shows up in the present moment. I also love to weave in clients’ past experiences with psychedelics, plant medicines, or other altered states. My holistic and integrative approach helps you release what no longer serves you, so you can step fully into your power.

  • Through gentle, body-centered practices, we’ll work together to guide your nervous system out of chronic states of feeling triggered, dissociated, angry, avoidant, people-pleasing, anxious, or depressed, and into greater presence and authenticity. Somatic therapy can help you feel safe in your body, build confidence, discover unconscious emotions and beliefs, engage in healthier relationships, set boundaries, communicate clearly, move through life with less overwhelm, and feel more focused, energetic, creative, and alive—because you’re no longer in survival mode.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Absolutely. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming, culturally sensitive, and deeply informed by social justice principles. I strive to create a safe, inclusive, and compassionate space for people of all identities and backgrounds. My approach acknowledges and respects the diverse experiences of my clients, including the impact of systemic oppression, privilege, and intersectionality on mental health and well-being.

That being said, I am a cisgender, heterosexual woman with Hispanic, Indigenous, and Caucasian heritage who specializes in working with women. It’s important to me that you feel fully supported and seen in therapy. During a consult call, we can explore whether I am the right fit for your particular identity and needs. If I’m not the best match, I will gladly provide referrals to therapists who might be a better fit. I am committed to doing everything I can to help you find the perfect therapist for YOU.

  • I offer a 20-minute free consultation call to help us determine if we’re a good fit. Just like any long-term, intimate relationship, it’s important that we both feel comfortable and at ease from the start.

During this call, you’ll have the opportunity to share some background about yourself, your current concerns, and what brought you to seek therapy. I’ll briefly introduce myself and provide an overview of my approach and the therapy process.

We’ll also discuss fees, scheduling, and then check in at the end to see if we’d like to move forward with scheduling your first appointment.

  • During your first appointment, we’ll focus on creating a safe and supportive environment for you to feel comfortable sharing your story. It’s a time to get to know each other, explore your goals for therapy, and begin to gently tune into your body and nervous system. For more details on what to expect and how to prepare, check out my blog post: How to Prepare for Your First Somatic Therapy Session.

  • Each person, relationship, and situation is unique, and every nervous system has its own pace, which makes this question challenging. Many clients begin to feel some relief within the first few sessions as they experience the containment and support of the therapeutic relationship—they are no longer facing complex issues alone. That said, trauma therapy is often a longer process that requires commitment. And because somatic therapy treats root issues instead of symptoms, there’s usually more to unpack and process. My promise to every client is to work as hard as I can and as quickly as I can to support your healing journey in a way that is responsible and safe (urgency can often worsen symptoms). My ultimate goal is to help you become resourced, stabilized, and regulated enough that you no longer feel dependent on therapy or me.

  • The length of your therapy process can vary depending on several factors, including the specific issues you’re addressing, your goals, and your progress in therapy. It’s a collaborative process, and together we’ll assess your needs and set realistic expectations for the duration.

Some individuals benefit from short-term therapy, lasting a few weeks to a few months, while others may engage in longer-term therapy that can extend for several months or even years. Ultimately, the duration of your therapy will depend on your unique circumstances and our ability to work together effectively toward your therapeutic objectives. We’ll regularly evaluate your progress and adjust the treatment plan as needed.

  • Individuals: $175 per 50-minute session.

I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots ($150) for individuals experiencing financial hardship or extenuating circumstances. If you require a sliding scale arrangement, please discuss this with me during your free consultation.

    Couples & Families: $200 per 50-minute session or $230 for a 90-minute session.

    Additional Fees:
If you become involved in legal proceedings that require my participation, I will charge for my professional time and services, even if I am called to testify by another party. My fee for preparation and attendance at any legal proceeding is $450 per hour. Bills and receipts will be provided at the end of each session, and payment is expected upon receipt unless otherwise agreed upon.

  • I do not accept insurance of any kind. To understand why, please read this blog.

If you have insurance, please be aware that your insurance provider may reimburse you for “out-of-network” services, typically with PPO plans. I recommend checking with your provider before our first session to understand your coverage. Upon request, I can provide you with a Superbill, which you can submit to your insurance provider for any potential reimbursement. Please note that payment for services is collected upfront.
